The first Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan interparliamentary forum inaugurated.

With the participation of speakers and MPs of both countries, the opening ceremony of the First Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Forum was held on July 1 in Uzbekistan. Opening remarks were delivered by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, and the Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, then the forum continued with the discussions in sessions.

Second meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Supreme Interstate Council was held in Baku.

Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated in the second meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Supreme Interstate Council, which was held on July 2 in Baku. After opening remarks by the presidents, the co-chairs of the council and other ministers gave information about projects implemented.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed participants of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in the city of Khankendi and delivered a speech. Then other participants, the Chairman of the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and others, delivered their speeches.

Preparations for UNESCAP’s 82nd session in Baku discussed.

In the meeting between Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov andArmida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the long-term partnership between Azerbaijan and UNESCAP and preparations for the 82nd session of UNESCAP, which is scheduled for April 2026 in Baku, were discussed.

Baku hosts the 58th session of the Executive Council of International Civil Defence Organization.

The official opening ceremony of the 58th session of the ICDO Executive Council happened in Baku, Azerbaijan. After the performance of the ICDO anthem, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, delivered a speech and welcomed participants. Then other participants delivered their speeches. In the two-day sessions, discussions on topics such as financial and administrative reports, goals, and areas of activity were expected.

EP adopts resolution on Georgia, urging sanctions and new elections.

A resolution on Georgia has been adopted by the European Parliament with amendments. It expresses regret that there is no progress in aligning with the recommendations on the EU’s foreign, security, and defense policy. While full alignment was needed for EU membership, Georgia completed 49%.

The event dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s national press was held by the Media Development Agency. The event started with the message from President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to media representatives read by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. After the awarding of the “150th Anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Press (1875–2025)” jubilee medal, established by presidential decree. Then the event continued with an artistic program.

Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Addresses the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in Geneva.

The 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament was held with the participation of approximately 350 delegates, including women speakers from 29 countries and women leaders of several international organizations, in Geneva, Swiss Confederation. The speaker spoke about the violence that women suffer from and the achievements in the field of women’s rights.
