On April 3, 2025, the European Union (EU) – Central Asia Summit was held in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, under the auspices of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The summit marked a turning point for the region and the Turkic World.

Among the participating leaders were President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

The decisions taken during the summit resonated broadly across the Turkic World and especially in Turkey. In this context, a follow-up evaluation meeting will be held with the participation of regional expert scholars to discuss the outcomes of the summit and its regional implications within an academic framework.
